During the Autosport International racing car show, VW has taken its wraps off its new and remarkable VW Jetta TSI Sport. What makes this VW model real cool is that it has been fed with an engine-driven supercharger and a turbo-charger that is being powered by exhaust gas. And what better way to unveil it than in an international racing car show right?
The VW Racing U.K engineers have been the ones behind this impressive VW beauty with help from VW’s tech partners at Superchips, Milltek S;lrt, and Turbo Dynamics. Together, staff from these four companies helped to increase the horsepower of Jetta’s 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine that was initially 167 to 227 horsepower. This engine was used in the VW Golf last year and was tested by putting it through its paces in competition. Melissa Wright of VW Racing U.K, said, “We learned a lot about the engine during the course of 2007, and we have incorporated that knowledge into the new installation. In the right hands and with some development mileage under it, the new car will be a front runner.”
