During the 2008 Taipei International Auto Show which happened just last week, the Managing Director for VW Singapore, Dr. Olaf Duebel, said that VW has plans on developing new automotive technologies that also comply with both the environmental requirements and the demands of the customer. During the said auto show, Dr. Duebel also officiated the opening ceremony of the German automaker’s booth to which he also introduced the new VW Tiguan.

Dr. Duebel said, “With the effects of global warming, the issues of energy conservation and environmental protection have become increasingly crucial to Volkswagen.” He also explained that VW is continuing to develop a series of technologies that aim to overcome the problems car drivers encounter with regard to fuel consumption. He used the TSI engines that are currently being developed by the automaker. He said that these range of engines are based on a downsizing concept without compromising direct injection and turbo-charging. He explained, “Yet, the engine still delivers excellent torque and power output combined with low fuel consumption, that is friendlier to the environment.”
Duebel also proudly announced that Volkswagen is continuing its environmental technology goals and car enthusiasts will be able to see the arrival of exciting new products in the months ahead. A second generation Tiguan will be among these exciting new products from VW. He said, “The introduction of this model into the local market truly represents our highest regards for Taiwan.”
